Non-Invasive Concrete Moisture Meter, Tramex CME5, Moisture Encounter
Concrete Moisture Encounter CME5
Concrete Moisture Meter for Measuring Moisture Content in Concrete Floors and Slabs
Create Visual Moisture Maps and Reports with the Tramex Meters App
The Tramex Concrete Moisture Encounter CME5, the updated CME4 Concrete Moisture Encounter, is a non-destructive analog concrete moisture meter for measuring quantitative moisture content in concrete floors and slabs. The CME5 determines an instant and precise quantitative measurement of moisture content using Gravimetric testing as a baseline. This moisture meter for concrete tests to a depth of approximately 20 mm (3⁄4") into the slab.
The CME5 concrete moisture meter also provides readings for gypsum floor screeds as well as comparative readings, making it suitable to perform a concrete moisture test as per ASTM F2659. It is a top-quality moisture meter for concrete and an essential tool for non-destructive testing of concrete for professionals in the concrete coatings or flooring industry, helping to prevent moisture problems on concrete floors.
The use of the CME5 can be extended with the optional Concrete Moisture Probe, which detects in-situ quantitative moisture content within the concrete down to an extendable depth of up to 4" (100 mm). The CME5 is also included in several concrete moisture test kits.
Moisture Mapping & Data Documentation
Concrete moisture test results can be visualized with the Tramex Meters App and turned into moisture maps, reports and charts for sharing. Bluetooth connectivity to mobile devices also helps to GeoTag test results, and to create, save and share photos.
CME4 is Now CME5
The CME5 concrete moisture meter is the new and improved version of the well-established and trusted Concrete Moisture Encounter 4 (CME4), a favourite amongst concrete moisture professionals for many years.

How It Works
Concrete Moisture Meter Design
The Tramex Concrete Moisture Encounter CME5 detects and evaluates the moisture conditions within the slab or screed by non-destructively measuring the electrical impedance. A low-frequency electronic signal is transmitted into the material under test via the electrodes in the base of the instrument. The strength of this signal varies in proportion to the amount of moisture present. The CME5 determines the strength of the current and converts it to a moisture content value for concrete slabs, and a comparative value for other cementitious floor screeds, displayed on a large, clear analog dial.
Operating Procedure
Simply brush any dust from a smooth area of concrete and from the electrodes, switch on the CME5 and place it firmly onto the surface, fully compressing the spring-loaded, signal-enhancing contacts on the base. Read the moisture content from the clear analog dial. The CME5 is calibrated to give percentage moisture content readings on clean, bare, dust-free concrete floor slabs, with a depth of penetration of approx. 3⁄4" (20 mm). Readings taken through paint, coatings, adhesives or other surface materials should be regarded as qualitative or comparative, not quantitative.
