Pinless Moisture Meter for Wood, Drywall & other Building Materials

CREATE VISUAL MOISTURE MAPS AND REPORTS WITH TRAMEX METERS APP

The Tramex Moisture Encounter ME5, the updated Moisture Encounter Plus, is a non-destructive moisture meter for detecting moisture in most building materials. As a wood moisture meter, the Moisture Encounter ME5 provides actual moisture content % readings. The ME5 also functions as a moisture meter for drywall, plaster, roofing, tile and masonry to help determine moisture content levels in walls, ceilings and floors.

Dual Depth Moisture Meter

The Dual Depth feature of the ME5 makes it possible to determine where the moisture is located within the material. The shallow-depth readings, up to ⅜” (9mm),  and deep-depth readings, up to 1¼" (30mm), can be used to compare surface moisture and core moisture and eliminate the influence of the substrate when testing coverings.

Measures Wood %MC

The ME5 is a pinless moisture meter for wood and is calibrated to read actual moisture content percentage (MC%) in wood without the need for pins damaging the surface. The wood scale shows a 5-30% moisture content range. Wood adjustment tables are available for specific wood type density adjustments where necessary.

Pre-calibrated for many building materials

The ME5 detects elevated moisture levels within the most common building materials and is pre-calibrated to the various densities of materials such as drywall, plaster, roofing, tile and masonry.

This general moisture reader detects moisture through paint, wallpaper, drywall, ceramic tiles, floor coverings, wood, ceiling tiles, roofing membranes, and asphalt composition shingles and makes it the best moisture meter for testing in, through and behind a wide range of building materials.

Moisture Mapping & Data Documentation

Moisture readings can be visualized with the Tramex Meters App and turned into moisture maps, reports and charts for sharing. Bluetooth connectivity to mobile devices also helps to GeoTag test results, create, save and share photos.

Moisture Encounter Plus is now Moisture Encounter ME5

The ME5 moisture meter is the new and improved version of the well-established and trusted Moisture Encounter Plus - MEP - moisture meter, which has been a favourite amongst moisture professionals for many years.

Moisture Meter Features

• 5 Ranges of sensitivity: Wood & Timber / Shallow Depth / Drywall & Roofing / Plaster & Tile / Masonry
• Dual-Depth penetration allows for comparative of surface and core moisture and elimination of substrate influence on the testing of coverings.
• Deep signal penetration, up to 1¼" (30mm) in wood and drywall, detects elevated moisture through most covering materials without having to damage or puncture the materials being tested.
• Shallow Depth scale is designed to have a field penetration of up to ⅜" (9mm).
• Wide range of readings from 5% to 30% on Wood Scale and 0 to 100 on comparative scale for all other materials.
• Detects moisture through paint, wallpaper, drywall, ceramic tiles, floor coverings, wood, ceiling tiles, roofing membranes, and asphalt composition shingles.
• Bluetooth connection to accompanying IOS & Android App allowing for continual development and integration of apps and reporting.
• Hold Function which enables the user to “freeze” the reading, useful when taking readings where the meter face may not be visible.
• High Moisture Audio Warning Tone which can be enabled or disabled.
• Large clear easy to read analog display giving meaningful readings.
• Rugged ergonomically designed enclosure.

Moisture Meter Design

The Moisture Encounter ME5 detects and evaluates moisture conditions within various building materials by non-destructively measuring the electrical impedance. A low frequency electronic signal is transmitted into the material via the electrodes in the base of the instrument. The strength of this signal varies in proportion to the amount of moisture in the material under test. The ME5 determines the strength of the current and converts this to a moisture content value, displaying it on a large clear analog dial.

Uses:

Used and trusted by generations of professionals worldwide for the purpose of: Locating moisture-related problems within and behind a variety of building materials in the building envelope. Mapping the extent of moisture damage caused to buildings. Monitoring progressive drying conditions in the drying process of building materials and surfaces. Dual-Depth penetration allows for comparative of surface and core moisture and elimination of substrate influence on the testing of coverings.
