The Slide Protectors are used to protect both freshly painted surfaces and the meter electrodes.

Best practice is to place the meter, record the reading, then lift the meter and place it in the next location to record the next reading. For users who prefer to slide the meter between readings, the slide protectors prevent marks on freshly painted surfaces and reduce wear and tear on the rubber electrodes caused by friction from sliding.
